The Wading Birds of the Barnegat Bay Estuary

It's impossible to disconnect a love for fishing with the deep fascination for all the the organisms that surround it.  And of all those species, none were more fascinating and visible than the beautiful wading birds.  And capturing their photos became the obsession that led to everything else..

The images you see on this page are the result of thousands of hours sitting in blinds , sometimes in waist deep water, in an area no larger than a half square mile of the lower Barnegat Bay Estuary on Island Beach State Park.
