The definition of an estuary is termed as "Any body of water that eventually reaches and mixes with the salt waters of the ocean.  So important are they, that the federal government created the "National Estuary Program" to better study and protect them".  From coast to coast there are 28 estuaries included in that program and the "BARNEGAT BAY ESTUARY" is one of them.

Any map will show its dimensions, from its fresh and brackish tributaries, to the Barnegat Bay itself and the water shed that feeds it.  But this site is intended to to give it the true living image it deserves.
